Windsurf, an AI-first IDE from Codeium and now Devin Desktop under Cognition, embeds a full agent harness in a VS Code-style editor: the Cascade agent panel hosts the Devin Local agent, which chats, writes and runs code, generates new projects, and deploys apps with one click. Deep context awareness gives the agent codebase understanding, supported by memories and rules, workflows for automating repeated trajectories, and MCP servers plus ACP for external tools and editors. Model choice spans Cognition's in-house SWE-1.x family (including a Cerebras-served Lightning variant and swe-grep retrieval), Claude, and GPT, with an Adaptive router default. Free, Pro, Max, Teams, and Enterprise plans exist, with usage-based plans introduced in March 2026. It targets developers who want an IDE-native autonomous agent rather than a CLI.
