GitHub Copilot
About
Copilot started as inline completion and has grown into GitHub's agent platform: agent mode in the editor proposes and validates multi-file edits, cloud agents plan and execute assigned issues into pull requests, and a desktop Copilot app manages agent work from issue to merge. It runs across VS Code, Visual Studio, JetBrains, Neovim, Xcode, the Copilot CLI, GitHub.com, and mobile, with models from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google selectable per task. Plans run from a free tier (2,000 completions, 50 chats) through Pro ($10), Pro+ ($39), and Max ($100) to Business ($19) and Enterprise ($39), with usage metered in AI Credits. Business and Enterprise tiers add governance, audit, and IP indemnification, which is why it remains the default in large organizations.
